Join community leaders and caring citizens as we gather together for the 13th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Sleep Out and Fundraiser on Friday, Dec 12 at 6pm!

Spend a night on the Winsted Green, bringing awareness to the persistent issue of homelessness in our community and supporting the work of the Winsted Y Homeless Shelter.  Pitch a tent, a cardboard box or sleep under the stars as you experience what it’s like to be homeless for a winter’s night. There is no registration fee, however participants/teams are asked to raise funds for the cause and get sponsorships for their night in the cold. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to support the work of Winchester Emergency Shelter.

Kick off the spring season with YMCA’s first ever Harwinton Run! Run or walk the scenic 5k course beginning at the Harwinton Library Sports Complex (Bentley Road, Harwinton CT). A 2 mile walk is also available so that all fitness levels can enjoy the fun.

Prizes will be awarded to overall winners. The Harwinton Run is the first race in Northwest CT YMCA’s 2025 Grand Prix Race Series. All money raised during the series goes to support financial assistance so that everyone has a chance to learn, grow and thrive at the Y!

Ages 5+

Race begins at 10am. Day of registration opens at 9 am. All runner should arrive by 9:30 am to pick up their race bags.

Come join us in this 5K run through the beautiful Action Wildlife Zoo in Goshen, Connecticut. The run will take you through a unique collection of animals spanning 6 of the 7 continents! Everything from African Zebra and Watusi Cattle, Asian Water Buffalo Vietnamese Potbelly Pig, South American Llama, North American Bison and Elk, Scottish Cattle, Russian Boar, Australian Emu, and many more!

Prizes will be awarded to overall winners and age categories winners. The Run with the Animals is the second race in Northwest CT YMCA’s 2025 Grand Prix Race Series. All money raised during the series goes to support financial assistance so that everyone has a chance to learn, grow and thrive at the Y!

Action Wildlife is located at 337 Torrington Road, Goshen CT

The Krazy Kids One Mile Obstacle Run race at Camp Moe (1145 Brandy Hill Rd, Torrington, CT) is for ages 6-12.  This race will kick off at 10 am.

The Canaan Railroad Days Run is a Running race in Canaan, Connecticut consisting of a 5 Mile Run.

This event is a competitive 5 mile road race, with the option to take part in a 2 mile walk as well. Set in the heart of beautiful Canaan, the Railroad Days Run takes place on Saturday of the town’s annual Railroad Days, which provides fun for the whole family.

At the Y, we believe that families who play together, stay together. Our Grand Prix Race Series is a fantastic way for a family to share healthy values. Together, we can participate in a walk or run to benefit those who cannot afford the cost of Y programs.

The goal of the Y Grand Prix Race Series is to provide events that bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, fun and shared interests. Proceeds from the Race Series support financial assistance with the goal of ensuring that everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y.

Enjoy a scenic 5K trek around beautiful Highland Lake in Winsted! This course presents a challenge as it is mostly flat course but does consist of a few gradual climbs.

The 2-Mile walk option means that this event is fun for all!

The Highland Lake 5K marks the third race in the Northwest CT YMCA’s Grand Prix Race Series, with the final event coming in October.

All monies raised during the Race Series go to support those who need the Y most, subsidizing memberships and programs for those who cannot afford it.

All participants (INCLUDING KIDS!) will receive an official event T-Shirt if registered by 11:59pm on 9/5.

All participants 21 and over will receive one free beverage from Little Red Barn Brewers!

Enjoy a wonderful 5K run through the beautiful property that is also home to one of the best brewery’s around – Norbrook Farm! The run has a little of everything, taking runners along the pristine trails of the property, into the fields, and, yes, you guessed it, finishing at the brewery itself. It’s a beautiful way to spend a fall morning.

All participants over 21 will receive a complimentary drink ticket to enjoy a refreshing beverage from the brewery!

This event will take runners through the Y’s Tall Timbers property located on the Torrington-Goshen border at 1145 Brandy Hill Road, Torrington). The 5k course will feature a mix of quiet country roads and private dirt roads that wind through the camp’s wooded property. A hill climb stands between runners and the finish, making sure all will earn their Thanksgiving feast. This run can also be completed as a 2 mile walk.
